Welcome, to The Well Appointed Man. A place, where I will share my thoughts, about the knowledge, things, skills, and tools that every man should have. Feel free to peruse, add, reflect or contribute your knowledge, every bit of input is valued and appreciated.
For the first post here, I have chosen to compile a small list, of things that I feel every man should own. These things do not need to be expensive, or luxurious, and I absolutely value form over function, however I do recognize that there are many different schools of thought on the matter and therefore I will present two of my own as my next post, after I go through and break down this list.
Every man needs a watch. It is my personal feeling that the essential function of a watch, is to tell time. Any additional information gleaned from your timepiece is merely a bonus. I feel like every man needs one watch, per child he has for heirloom purposes. A watch passed down through generations becomes a cherished gift and honored tradition.
A nice pen. Pretty self explanatory here, we all write, it is a necessary way for us to communicate to one another, something nicer than the throw away is always a plus...
A nice lighter. Again, an heirloom piece, a nice lighter such as a Dunhill, or an S.T. Dupont, can save your life by creating a blazing signal fire or light a cigar at a classy establishment or soiree.
And lastly,
Every man needs a good wallet. Well cared for, and moderately appointed, not jammed with receipts or expired coupons.
This list, I am sure will grow, and expand, to include many more things I feel every man needs. In the mean time however, thank you for taking time to read this post, please feel free to give me your input, and take care!
